Coach Janine Simioni began swimming
at age 7 for the Santa Barbara YMCA and continued her competitive
career with the SBCATS where she held the most age group team
records and senior records. She became the first Age Group Swimmers
in Southern California to hold the most records and hold the number
#1 slot for age group swimmers 5 years in a row. Coach Janine also
held all the High School team records in every event for 3 years in
a row. She went on to train for the 1980 time trials at the age of
15 as she excelled in the 50 and 100 Freestyle as well as the 200
After all her training for the 1980
Olympics and then being boycotted that year, Coach Janine was
offered NCAA and Division I scholarships but decided she didn't
want to swim competitively but just for fun. So Coach Janine
decided to continue her education by attending SBCC where she
double majored in accounting and EMT schooling. She then decided
she loved the medical field and went to Paramedic School where she
excelled in critical care for patients. After being hired on with
Mobile Life and going out on a call to the beach with a scuba diver
call she decided to learn to scuba dive. It was then that Santa
Barbara Sheriffs department asked her to join there scuba search
and rescue team.
Coach Janine has been Head Coach and
director of the RMLS Seadogs Swim Club now Seadogs swim club
for the past 17 years where she helped develop a successful
competitive year round program while continuing to coach summer
recreational and Pre-Competitive

Coach Janine enjoys teaching the
swimmers each day and see the progress they make and the smiles on
the swimmers faces when they accomplish new things and can
prefect their technique.
Coach Janine retired from being
an Air-vac Paramedic working out of a trauma level 1 and level 2
hospitals. She also retired from the Sheriffs scuba search and
rescue team after 14 fun filled years. She and her husband Mark
along with their two children, Cody 24 and Jennifer 30, have
lived in Mesa for the past 19 years.
has coached since 1995, coaching at different levels from YMCA, USA
Age Group, high school and USA Masters. He has been able to start 2
successful aquatics programs, a women’s water polo team in
California and Higley High School’s Swim and Dive Team, in
Gilbert, AZ, where he is currently the head coach. He has coached
in California, Arizona and Minnesota and has enjoyed every
experience he was given to build on his own coaching philosophy
(technique, technique, & fun). Coach Chris’s swimmers
have broken over 200 school records; have been state finalist;
regional champions and All-Americans.
Coach Chris has been with Mesa Seadogs since 2014 when his daughter
joined the team. The thing that drew him to the Seadogs
for his daughter’s swim career and his coaching career was
the small team (coach to swimmer ratio), the focus on technique and
Coach Janine’s background as an USA Olympic Team
Member/Swimmer, coaching of Olympic and National athletes, and her
drive to do what is right for her swimmers. When Coach Chris was
asked why he continues to coach for the Seadogs he stated,
“Everybody is about large teams, thinking bigger is better. I
know as a coach, too many kids get over looked on a large team. I
wanted that special connection with my swimmers and provide
opportunities for technique instruction that we provide as a small
team and parents are looking for.”
Coach Chris has been a High School Teacher since 1998 working
with students that have learning disabilities. Coach Chris has two
kids, William in the NAVY and Megan attending Gilbert/Chandler
Community College. Chris has lived in Arizona for over

Reed A Newell
Age Group Coach
Coach Reed began swimming
at age 7 for Red Mountain Country Club recreational team. She
loved to swim so much she then joined the RMLS Seadogs
with Head Coach Janine Simioni.
She excelled greatly in
the events 50,100, 200 yard butterfly as well as freestyle. She set
many team records and made the State team her first year of
competitive swimming. In 2008 Coach Reed placed in the top 5 and
made Far Western times. She made sectional cuts as a 13-14 year old
and placed within the top 10 in each of her
Coach Reed continued to
swim throughout high school as well as assisting for Coach
Janine to demonstrate for the age group team. At
age 17 became a Certified Lifeguard, and was starting to
learn how to teach children to swim under the supervision of Coach

her senior thesis about teaching kids the essential survival
skills around and in water.
Reed became a USA
Certified Swim Coach in 2013 and continues to coach under
Coach Janine’s wing. She helps with private lessons, group
lessons and now is working with with the Greyhounds and Summer
camps that Seadogs Swim Club runs throughout the

camps. She absolutely loves being in the water and seeing each of
the swimmers have smiles on their faces and watching the progress
they make with all her help. Reed currently is a USA certified
coach and lifeguard working on her ASCA level
Jennifer R Simioni
Age Group Coach
Coach Jennifer started swimming when she was 12 years old. She first trained with Coach Traci Hering at Red Mountain Country Club. She continued onto High School swimming where she swam for Red Mountain High School and excelled in the 50 and 100 free. After High school she then joined her Mom's team RMLS seadogs where she made State, sectionals and was close to having times fast enough for the national team. Jennifer was at that time introduced to open water swimming and has enjoyed competing. Jennifer is always in the top 5 finishers no matter how far the distance. In her age group she is always first.
Jennifer still swims on MESA Swim Club Seadogs master team and competes in open water swims all over Arizona and California. She also enjoys mountain biking and is hoping some day to become a tri athlete. Jennifer has her associates degree in Interior Design.
Jennifer enjoys working with the 8 and under swimmers teaching them to swim and have fun. She swims in the water with swimmers to teach proper technique to the swimmers.
Coach Jennifer currently has her Asca Level 2 certification and is working on her Level 3..
Megan R Robinson
Age Group Coach
Coach Megan started swimming at age 10. She excelled at her events: 200, 500,100 freestyle. She made the state team for her high school "Higley High" in her Junior and Senior year. She was elected team captain her senior year of High School. She became a pre. competitive Coach under Coach Janine's wing. She helps with group lessons, and loves helping our 4 and 5 year olds swim. She enjoys helping all the groups with technique. Coach Megan loves being in the water and watching the progress of all the swimmers she works with.
Candace m Newell
Age Group, Mermaids
Coach Candace began swimming at age 6 for Red Mountain Country Club recreational team. She loved to swim so much she then joined the RMLS Seadogs with Head Coach Janine Simioni.
She excelled greatly in the events 50,100, 200 yard breaststroke as well as freestyle. She set many team records and made the State team her first year of competitive swimming. In 2009 Coach Candace placed in the top 5 and made Far Western time cuts. She made sectional cuts as a 13-14 year old and placed within the top 10 in each of her events.
Coach Candace continued to swim throughout high school as well as assisting for Coach Janine to demonstrate for the age group team. At age 17 became a Certified Lifeguard, and was starting to learn how to teach children to swim under the supervision of Coach Janine.
